Scotch Collops

Scotch Collops are a traditional Scottish dish traditionally served garnished with thin toast and mashed potato.

A collop is a slice of meat, according to one definition in the Oxford English Dictionary.

  1. Finely chop the onions
  2. Finely slice the mushrooms
  3. Heat the butter and oil in a pan and saute the onions until they are golden brown then remove from the heat and set aside.
  4. Brown the steaks for 2 minutes each side and place on top of the onions in a warmed serving dish.
  5. Season with salt and pepper
  6. Saute the mushrooms for 3 minutes, season with salt and pepper then spoon them over the steak and serve.
