- Flour - All Purpose
- 3 Cup
- Broth - Beef
- 1/4 Cup
- Sherry - Dry
- 1/2 tsp
- Worcestershire Sauce
This basic brown sauce can be used ‘as is’ and is great with Ham or Veal however it is the base for many more flavorsome sauces.
- Melt the butter in a heavy-bottomed saucepan over low heat
- Add the flour and cook for 2 minutes, stirring continuously
- Gradually add the broth while continuing to stir
- Add the sherry and worcestershire sauce then season to taste with salt and pepper
- Simmer gently for 10 minutes
