- Coarsely ground white or black peppercorns
- 1/2 Cup
- Vinegar - White Wine
- 2 Tbsp
- Finely chopped shallots or sweet onions
- 1 To Taste
- Salt

This recipe can also be made using red wine vinegar, or you can make it fancy with Champagne vinegar.
It is very simple to make but a family favorite!
- Combine all ingredients and chill. Serve with chilled oysters or clams on the half shell.
- If you prefer cooked oysters....
- Place oven rack on second to top rung. and preheat oven to 400˚F
- Put a tablespoon of Mignonette on each oyster
- Bake for about 5 minutes, you can finish under a broiler for a minute if desired to brown the shallot a little
