Butter - Unsalted
2 Cup
Sugar - Dark Brown
3/4 Cup
Rum
1/4 tsp
Nutmeg - Ground
Cumberland Rum Butter

This makes a nice alternative to Brandy Butter and is frequently served in Northern England.

  1. Warm the butter slightly to soften
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until smooth
  3. Gradually stir in the rum and add the nutmeg
  4. Beat thoroughly and transfer to a dish or small pot
  5. Allow to harden before serving
