Roast Beef dinner served with Yorkshire Puddings and gravy is a traditional British Sunday meal.
While rarely done today, it used to be the custom to cook Yorkshire puddings in the same pan as the beef when the meat has been removed. The puddings are delicious when cooked in the fat that drains from the beef as it cooked.
- Preheat oven to 450°F
- Place the beef fat side up in a roasting pan and coat it with the oil
- If you like your beef rare it should cook for around 75 minutes and register 130°F to 140°F with a thermometer.
- If you prefer your beef medium to well done, cook for 90 minutes and a thermometer should read 150°F to 160°F
- Baste the meat frequently during cooking.
- When the meat is cooked, remove it from the pan and place on a warmed platter then cover with foil and allow to rest for 25 minutes before carving.... this is the perfect time to cook your Yorkshire Puddings!!
